Creative Community – My Thanks!

I am a ‘recovering’ trial lawyer. My current search for creative life, and lifestyle, have led me to some observations that you may find value in, at the end of any given day.

I’ve spent nearly 45 years in the pursuit of justice for my clients, and during that time the entire landscape of law has changed. From a time when those, in what was then considered a profession, strove for collegiality and respect for both Court and opposing counsel. Today, however, the landscape is littered with acrimony, ego, animosity and division which fosters only pettiness and disrespect. The change is profoundly disturbing, revolting, and bluntly, I’m sick of it. As I’ve endeavored to learn the fundamentals of filmmaking there are many lessons which have simply risen up and smacked me in the face.

So, when I first began exploring YouTube to begin learning the crafts of filmmaking and photography I was shocked: in a great way. I was amazed to discover the gift of community. The community of creatives, and creators, freely choosing to share knowledge, expertise, “tips and “tricks” to seriously foster learning with little or no expectation of return. The creation of a ‘free society’ where everyone can learn, benefit, grow, and expand the universe of creativity.

It is nearly impossible to describe what an inspiring breath of fresh air finding this has meant to me. It’s tempting to just real off the names: Casey, Peter, Matti, Chris, Lizzie, Becki & Chris, Evan, Andy, Matthew, Jake, Sean, Ali, Thomas, Peter again, Tom, Ryan, and the list can go on and on and on.

To say that these creators opened a new world to me, as they most certainly have others, would be an understatement of incredible proportion. And so, in my most humble way, I simply say “thank you” to not only those named here, but to all the creators round the world who contribute every day.

Inspiration

It all begins with an inspiration.

It all begins with an idea. Perhaps a change of scenery would do the trick. Having labored in the Covid lockdown for months, and staring at the four walls of the stay at home office, the Zoom window on the monitor screen, and living in an the virtual, but real world of isolation. And then, an entirely new vista unfolds. Inspiration, by way of a simple change of scenery.

A view, and a voice, through another lens.

It all begins with an idea. The idea is to share a voice, a view through another lens.

It all begins with the notion that as a ‘recovering attorney’, I might bring a view of events, beliefs, and subjects that might not occur to everyone. To provoke thought, to inspire, and to encourage the separation of truth from fiction, fact from conspiracy and to delve deep into real beliefs.

An so, The View Through Another Lens will be launched. Stay Tuned!
